Now that winter is upon is, it’s about the time of year that I have to mop just about every day. I am also far to stubborn to buy a traditional mop with a handle because I get down on my hands and knees and use a rag and some Pine Sol and water in a bucket. This takes so much time, but it’s the only way I’ve ever done it.
When there is snow and slush on the ground, I try to avoid tracking in the house but with a family of four, that can be hard to do. I found a cheap an easy DIY way to prevent excess slush and snow from coming in the house. All you need is a couple of trays from the dollar store. I used two, but depending on the size of your family, you may want less or more. Fill the trays with river rocks (which can also be found at the Dollar Tree). When coming from outside, set shoes and boots on the tray and the snow and slush will melt into the tray and not onto your floors!
